Ambassador Role.

Richard Bowden has recently become an Ashfield-Mansfield Ambassador, and has been appointed as one of two private sector members of the Project Board of Invest Ashfield & Mansfield. Both private sector Board members were selected because of their track record of attracting investment into the area; in Richard’s case, through his involvement in projects which have built several thousand new homes in Mansfield and Ashfield over almost thirty years, and because of his current role in co-ordinating the Lindhurst and Mowlands Sustainable Urban Extension schemes.

Invest Ashfield & Mansfield is a new business engagement project, part-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and underwritten by Ashfield & Mansfield District Councils, seeking to promote the West Nottinghamshire area as prime location for relocation and inward investment. The initiative brings together the two councils, the thriving Vision West Notts College, and local entrepreneurs and business leaders sharing the common goal of generating growth and inward investment to the West Notts area.

Major planning application in Kirkby

Mowlands is a mixed use 145-hectare Sustainable Urban Extension on the western edge of Kirkby-in-Ashfield in West Nottinghamshire, less than 2km from Kirkby town centre, and around 1km from the train station. The site is bounded by the A38 to the north, with easy dual-carriageway access to Junction 28 of the M1. The development will comprise some 1800 homes, in a high-quality, “garden suburb” idiom; a 6 hectare business park for a range of different employment uses; a local centre to provide shops and community facilities, a 50 hectare community park and associated infrastructure. The development will also include the creation of a relief road to ease traffic on local roads and provide access to Kirkby town centre and the railway station. Bowden Consultants has been responsible for the land assembly which made the project possible, and has co-ordinated the outline planning application, which was submitted in January 2014. It is hoped that construction will commence in 2015, and that Mowlands will be a new neighbourhood f which Ashfield can be proud.

New Homes in Ravenshead.

Bowden Consultants submitted in August 2013 an outline planning application for the first phase of a 2.8 hectare development at Longdale Lane, Ravenshead. This high-quality development, planned with the advice of the Parish Council and following a public exhibition at the Village Hall, will provide a combination of family homes with gardens and garages, a fully-equipped playground, and up to 40 purpose-designed retirement dwellings. In total, up to 100 homes will be built.
